Meet the Steinbeck's Team


Frank Steinbeck, Sr. started Steinbeck’s in March of 1957 after spending 30 years with JC Penney Co.  Steinbeck’s moved to its present location in August of 1989 after spending 10 long years at Carolina East Mall which has been torn down.


Frank Steinbeck, Jr. (pictured center) purchaed the business from his father in 1986.  He graduated from ECU in 1964 with an AB degree. 


Tildon Brittle (pictured right) is a native of Woodland. He started his retail career in 1967 with Belk in Ahoskie. He became assistant manager in Ahoskie and then transferred to the Greenville Belk store at Carolina East Mall as assistant manager. In 1989 he was transferred to Orlando as the General Merchandise Manager for a group of 32 stores. He came back to Greenville as the manager of the Belk store. From Greenville he was transferred to the Belk store in Kinston. After leaving Belk in 1998 he became the Division Manager of Retail Sales of Overton Water Sports until 2005. He came to Steinbeck’s as the operations and merchandising manager and the President of Steinbeck’s Men’s Shop.


Rip Respess (pictured left) is a Greenville native with over 40 years in men’s clothing. He started with one of the old established department stores, Blount-Harvey’s in downtown Greenville. When it closed in the mid eighties, he went to work with Belk as a Divisional Manager. In 1995 he was offered the manager’s position with Rugged Warehouse. He came to work with Steinbeck’s in 2006. Rip is the floor manager. He does all of the in-store displays and visuals. He also helps with merchandising.
